Miami Security Cameras Will Scan Downtown

Thursday, February 28th, 2008

Miami Security Cameras – News

MIAMI (CBS4) ― The Miami Police Department will be installing a series of closed-circuit cctv security cameras in downtown Miami to curtail crime, control traffic and be an eye against terrorist-related activities.

The Miami security cameras  will cover Biscayne Boulevard from Southeast Third Street to Interstate 395. The cctv security cameras will wirelessly link into police headquarters and be recorded.

There will be expanded coverage into Brickell, to Flagler Street and eventually into Coconut Grove and northern areas of the city.

It’s a major undertaking because it involves partnerships with companies who own light poles with good vantage points in Miami Florida such as the American Airlines Arena, the Bayfront Park Trust, CSX Railroad and Metro Dade Transit.

Proponents believe it will help in efforts to counter terrorism, others say it will identify people who commit everyday crimes.

London was the first city to be filled with cctv security cameras. They’re on every corner. Police say they’re invaluable in solving crimes, and they were prominently used in the investigation into the summer bombings in the city.

But there are complaints that the security cameras infringe on civil liberties.

The cctv cameras in miami, which can zoom, pan, tilt and operate in low light, will continuously feed into headquarters, where one officer will monitor multiple screens, zooming in when a disturbance occurs.

Tyco International Announces Acquisition of Trident Tek, Inc.

Friday, November 16th, 2007

PEMBROKE, Bermuda , Nov. /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — Tyco International(NYSE: TYC) (BSX: TYC) today announced the acquisition of the assets of Trident Tek, Inc., a leading developer of video surveillance solutions, to strengthen its American Dynamics portfolio of video security technology and products. Privately-held Trident Tek has more than 20 years of experience in the security, storage and network industries, and brings extensive IT expertise to complement Tyco’s leadership in the video surveillance industry. Financial terms of the acquisition were not announced.

“We are strategically investing, through acquisitions and internal development, to extend our leadership in video surveillance into the rapidly growing IP market,” said Don Lyman , vice president and general manager of access control and video systems.

The acquired assets include Trident Tek’s network video management system(NVMS) which utilizes an embedded Linux operating system based on server-client architecture. The NVMS provides a robust, scalable and open IP-based platform, which can support over 128 cameras per server including megapixel IP cameras, standard IP cameras, and analog cameras with IP encoders. Using Linux turns an off-the-shelf server into a network appliance, which increases the ease of installation and lowers the cost of ownership.

“The Intellex(R) digital video management system, one of our core products for over 10 years, continues to gain market share with a large customer base,”said Chuck Hutzler , vice president of R&D for American Dynamics video solutions. “Trident Tek’s robust and scalable platform complements our own new VideoEdge IP products, maintains compatibility with our extensive existing base and puts us in an even stronger market position.”

To provide flexibility and ease of use, Trident Tek developed this NVMS platform using IT standards and open source tools. The NVMS solution can be augmented with expandable external SCSI-attached storage, fiber-attached storage, or IP SAN storage.

“We are very excited to join the American Dynamics video systems team.American Dynamics is a leading brand in the video market with a powerful global sales and distribution channel,” said Paul Zsebedics, CEO of Trident Tek, Inc. “With the convergence of physical and IT security, the combined organization establishes American Dynamics as one of the leading physical security manufacturers developing, marketing, and delivering IP solutions.”

The current Trident Tek NVMS will be offered concurrently while serving as a base on which to develop the new VideoEdge NVMS. The VideoEdge NVMS will support multiple compression technologies including the patented American Dynamics Active Content Compression (ACC) which enables current Intellex customers globally to migrate to IP solutions while protecting their existing investment.

Covert CCTV equipment gathers evidence of antisocial behaviour

Wednesday, November 14th, 2007

CCTV Security Systems – CCTV Security Cameras

Fighting the complex problems of anti-social behaviour challenges district and borough councils. While the term in itself covers a multitude of different problems there is a range of pro-active techniques that can be implemented to tackle many issues that if left unchallenged cost councils and therefore taxpayers’ unnecessary money.

Broxbourne Council’s community safety team recently received reports of youths causing antisocial behaviour and the stoning of passing vehicles, particularly buses, in the local area. This group of youths were consistently damaging council property.

CCTV Security Cameras – Systems

The throwing of the stones had resulted in a number of bus windows being smashed, which could have resulted in the driver losing control of the vehicle, or a passenger being injured by flying glass. As a result, the bus service on that route was withdrawn.

The Police increased uniformed presence in the area and also carried out plain clothes operations, but this did not resolve the problem. VIT was chosen to supply covert CCTV equipment to monitor the situation and gather evidence.

The local authority contacted VIT who provided surveillance cameras that were so well disguised that even from a distance of 6 inches, looking directly into the lens the youths were unaware that they were being filmed. VIT further deferred suspicion by placing a more obvious camera close to the site of the disguised camera to attract the youth’s attention.

The ploy worked successfully as the youths ignored the hidden camera and set about tearing the dummy ploy camera off the wall and attempting to destroy it. Other methods were used by VIT to delay the process of destruction of the fake box to allow plenty of evidential video to be obtained.

The system chosen was adaptable to a number of different situations, particularly as the attacks took place mostly under the cover of darkness, and the clarity of images secured assisted the police in the identification and arrest of the six offenders concerned. As a result, there have been no more stoning incidents in the area.

Because of the high quality ultra low light cameras used by VIT, obtaining evidential quality footage day or night is assured. The boys in this particular case were arrested and charged with causing damage to council property including the dummy camera and successfully prosecuted.  – providing security guard services, CCTV Security Cameras, Securtity Systems, Video Surveillance Systems,  CCTV Surveillance Systems, Hidden Cameras, CCTV Security Products, CCTV equipment, CCTV Video Cameras, online monitoring, Covert Spy Surveillance Products, and more.
